Donna Gordon：Yes, Jessica, on the seventh day ofcreation, God sees that his work is good and rests.

Donna Gordon：The number 7 is a very popular number inthe Bible, and it usually is because of the fact that God created the world in6 days and rested on the 7th.

Donna Gordon：Sunday in Hebrew is yom rishon, day 1.

The 7th dayis always Shabbat.

The firstchapter of Genesis tells us that we need a balance of work and rest in ourlives. Balance is key. Our rest is justas holy and as sacred as our work.

The gardenstory is a second creation story.

Donna Gordon：It wasn't enough for us to have just onecreation story, we have to have 2.

The firstcreation story in told in Chapter 1.

It deals onthe literal level with the physical universe and world creation.

This secondone talks about man's creation.

How is mancreated in the first story, and how is it different from how man is created inthe second story?

In Chapter 1God makes man and woman together.

Donna Gordon：On a literal level, why would the storysay that woman is made from the man?
（翻译-清辞Ｗei：从字面的意思看，为什么第二个故事里说女人是从男人创造的。）
张洁 Jessica 5号：为什么是照神的样子做男人做女人呢？所以神是分男女的吗？
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：一直没有发现这个差别呢。一直以为圣经里上帝是先做了男人，再从他肋骨里造个女人。印象中只有第二章的造人。
Donna Gordon：God is not a man or a woman.

Donna Gordon：In Middle Eastern cultures, the womantakes a back seat to the role of the man.

cj 1号：神说那人独居不好，要造一个配偶帮助他。但没有遇见配偶帮助他。当他看到神领到他跟前的女人，就知道她是他骨中的骨，肉中的肉，两人为一体。
Donna Gordon：In chapter 1, man and woman are madeequally.
（翻译-清辞Ｗei：第一章里，男人和女人都是被同样的创造的。）
In chapter 2the man is made first, and then FROM HIM, the woman is made.

Donna Gordon：This story has been used by jews andChristians to give women a secondary role in the world for centuries.

Donna Gordon：It tries to tell us that men are dominantover women.

Donna Gordon：This story was written at a time whenwomen were not considered equal to men.

Donna Gordon：Many Christians and observant Jewsbelieve that the Bible is the literal WORD OF GOD.

But...... ifwe take a much closer look at the different parts of the bible, the Hebrew, thenames of God, etc., we find differences.

Universityscholars and many progressive Jews and Christians believe that there were manyauthors to the stories in the Bible.

Donna Gordon：It is the same with the Bible. Different sections of the Bible seem to bewritten by a different author. I willpoint this out as we go along.

宁波-应奇yingqi：Its author is Lao Tzu,Confucius and Chuang-tzu have mentioned this person, especially the Chuang-tzubook is the play of Lao Tzu, the historical point of view should be the same person as.它的作者是老子，孔子和庄子都有提及此人，特别是庄子书更是老子的发挥，历史观点看应该是同一人所为。

Donna Gordon：Exactly, Fu Feng. The sections of theBible can be diverse, but they all point to the same thing.
