I would like to begin with Genesis Chapter 12 today.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：今天我们从《创世纪》12章开始讲起。）
In this chapter, we meet the first Jewish person namedAbram.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：在本章，我们遇到第一位犹太人亚伯兰。）
In Hebrew, Av-ram, means "Exalted Father".
（广州-李菱Li Ling：在希伯来语中Av-ram指的是“伟大的父亲”。）
A very interesting thing occurs in the Hebrew languageof the Bible.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：在圣经的希伯来语版本中发生了一些有趣的事情。）
The names of the people usually describe their missionin life.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：人物的姓名与他们一生的使命有关。）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：阿伯拉罕。
Donna Gordon：Fu Feng, later he becomes Abraham. When we first meet him, his name is Abram.
（扶风，后来变成Abrabam。我们第一次见到他，他的名字是Abram。）
He is missing the H sound in his name when we firstencounter him in the Bible.
Abram is the first Jewish person.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：他第一次出现在圣经里是"Abram",没有"H"，之后才变成了"Abraham"。所以"Abram"是第一位犹太人。）
A very interesting thing happens in the Hebrew, but isnot included in most translations of the Hebrew.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：在希伯来语中的有趣现象通常在许多译本中丢失了。）
Verse 1 of Chapter 12, begins with,
"And the Lord said to Abram, "Go forth fromyou land and your birthplace and your father’s house to the land that I willshow you."
（广州-李菱Li Ling：第12章第一节：耶和华对Abram说：“你要离开你的土地，离开你出生的地方，离开你父亲的家。往我要指示你去的地方去。”）
Let's take a closer look at the Hebrew .
（广州-李菱Li Ling：我们现在来细读一下希伯来语原文。）
The command to "Go forth", "Go to",is not so simple.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：这个“往......去”不那么简单。）
In Hebrew the words are LechLe-chah.
The Literal meaning of these two words is either "GoFOR yourself," or, "Go TO yourself."
Lech is the command to GO.
Le means to.
Chah means you.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：希伯来语“Lech Le-chah”字面意思是“为了你自己去”或是“走向你自己”。"Lech"是“去”的指令， "Le"是“向”，"Chah"是“你”。）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：走进，向内、向外。
Donna Gordon：Yes, Fu Feng. Abram in his relationship withGod is being told to not only go inward, but also to express an outwarddedication of God by going where God tells him to go.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：是的，扶风，Abram与上帝的关系是，不仅要往内走，还要通过上帝要他去哪儿，他就去哪儿，来表现出他对上帝的忠诚与献身。）
Let's talk a little about what it is like to go inwardto God.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：我们一起想想：向内走向上帝是什么样的。）
Going inward to God means finding God deep withinourselves.
By connecting inside with the most powerful force in theuniverse that gives life to all.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：“向内”走向上帝指的是在我们内心深处找到上帝，通过内心与宇宙中最强大的生命力量联系起来。）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：必须通过上帝？
Donna Gordon：As I explained in the introduction to ourclass a few weeks ago, the first Jews were nomads.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：正如我们几周前说过，最初的犹太人都是游牧者。）
They had many flocks of sheep and herds of cattle thatwent from place to place to feed their animals in different pastures.
They lived in family communities that traveled together.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：他们拥有许多羊群、牛群，以家族社群的方式一起在不同的草场间游牧，这是他们的生活方式。）
For Abram to leave his family community and to strikeout on his own was a big thing.
It was not common to do this.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：而现在Abram要离开自己的族群，独自闯荡，是非比寻常的事情。）
Go to yourself
走向你自己
Donna Gordon：So let's explore these two important words.Go to yourself.
广州-李菱Li Ling：所以我们再深入探讨一下这个重要的词“go to yourself”：走向你自己。
How does a person "Go to yourself" to findGod?

How do you search for God within you?

Donna Gordon：Yes, Jessica, that is one way to feel Godwithin yourself, through your heart.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：是的，张洁说的是一种方式，通过你的内心。）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：上帝在外？在内？
Jiangsu海阔天空 14号：内心的平和就是与上帝同在？
Donna Gordon：Jiangsu, says inner peace. All very good answers.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：Jiangsu，内心的平静，也是很好的回答。）
People experience the power of God in many ways.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：我们可以通过不同的方式来体验上帝的能量。）
Abram experienced the power of God by being able to hearthe voice of God within himself.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：Abram能体验上帝的能量，因为他能够在自己内心听到上帝的声音。）
There is an old story about Abram and his father Terach,which is not in the Bible.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：有一个古老的故事，关于Abram和他的父亲Terach，没有记录在圣经中。）
This story comes from another Jewish sacred book called"The Talmud."
（这个故事来自于一本叫《犹太法典》的犹太人的经典。）
I will tell the story in very simple terms.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：我将简单地讲讲这个故事。）
Abram's father, Terach, owned a store that sold idols.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：Abram的父亲Terach开了一家卖雕像的商店。）
Idols are statues of different gods.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：这些雕像是不同的神的塑像。）
People bought the idols for many purposes.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：人们因为各种原因来买雕像。）
Maybe to bring good luck, bring more hair on a baldhead, to bring beauty, and many other things.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：可能是为了带来好运，为了让秃头上再次长出头发，为了美貌，等等。）
One day, Terach, had to leave the store to make adelivery of idols to a customer.
He left Abram in charge of the store while he was gone.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：有一天，Terach要离开小店去给顾客送货，就把小店交给Abram看管。）
While Abram was left in the store alone, he looked atall of the idols and thought about how his father sat and made all of theseidols out of clay each day.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：Abram独自在店中一一观察每个偶像，心里琢磨起自己的父亲是怎么每天用黏土做出这些雕像的。）
He got very angry.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：想着想着他生气了。）
He took a broom and began smashing all of the idols,except for the largest one.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：他拿起扫帚开始打碎所有的雕像，除了最大的那一个。）
He put the broom in the hands of the largest idol.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：他把扫帚放在最大的那个雕像的手中。）
When his father returned, he saw that all of the idolsexcept the largest one were broken.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：当他的父亲回到家，发现除了最大的一个，其他雕像全碎了。）
Terach said, "What happened to my store?"
（广州-李菱Li Ling：父亲问，“我的小店里发生了什么？”）
Abram said, "While you were away, all of the idolsbegan to fight with each other. This bigidol said that he was the mightiest idol and smashed all of the others."
（广州-李菱Li Ling：Abram回答：“你不在家的时候，这些雕像打了起来。这个最大的说他是最强大的，然后就把其它全打碎了。”）
Terach said, " How can this be true? I made all of these with my own hands fromclay! They have no power."
（广州-李菱Li Ling：父亲说：“这怎么可能？我用黏土把他们铸出来，他们根本就没有能动性。”）
Abram said, " You are right, Dad. They have no power."
（广州-李菱Li Ling：Abram说：“爸爸，你说得对。它们没有能动性。”）
And it is after this incident, that Abram went off onhis own with God.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：这个事件发生后，Abram离开家独自闯荡去了。
He had to leave his family of idol worshippers and gowith his heart to follow God throughout his life.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：他决定要离开偶像崇拜的家，遵从自己的内心去追随上帝。）
A beautiful story.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：一个很美的故事。）
Many of us have to go our own way in life, yes?
（广州-李菱Li Ling：我们当中，许多人都有自己的路要走，对不对？）
It may be different from what our parents want us to do,yes?
（广州-李菱Li Ling：而这条路，往往都与父母想要我们走的不同，对不对？）
The God of the Bible has no form, no shape. It cannot beseen.
（广州李菱Li Ling：圣经中的上帝，是无形的，我们看不见。）
According to the Bible, we are not to worship idols ofany kind.
They do not represent God.
（广州李菱Li Ling：圣经告诉我们，不要崇拜偶像，因为它们不能代表上帝。）
The most powerful force, power, frequency of vibrationcannot be seen with naked eye,
but....... it can be felt with the heart and soul.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：最强大的力量与共振，不是肉眼所能看到的，而要通过心灵去体会。）
So we must all go inward to connect with this source ofthe universe.
Just like Abram.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：所以我们所有人，都要像Abram那样，向内走，去与万物之源联系起来。）
There are many roads to this source and they all lead tothe same place. Enlightenment.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：要通向这个源头，有不同的道路与方式。但百川终归于海，那就是开悟。）
Abram become Abraham
Abram变成了Abraham
Donna Gordon：Now I would like to explore Chapter 17.
This is where Abram becomes Abraham.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：我们接着来看17章，在这里，Abram变成了Abraham.）
God comes to Abram and makes a covenant or agreementwith Abram.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：上帝与Abram制定了契约。）
张洁 Jessica 5号：多了个h。
Donna Gordon：Yes, Jessica, he does a lot to get that H inhis name.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：是的，Jessica,为了这个"H",他付出了许多。）
The covenant says that Abram will have many descendants.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：契约中说，Abram将会有许许多多的后代。）
He will be the father of many nations.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：他将会成为多国之父。）
And another way he seals this contract or covenant withAbram is by changing his name and the name of his wife, Sarai.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：合约的实现方式是将他和她妻子Sarai的名字改了。）
He will be now known as AbraHam and she will be known asSaraH.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：Abram的名字改为Abraham,他妻子Sarai改名为Sarah.）
Both names receive an H sound in their names.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：他们俩的名字中都有"H"了。）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：阿伯拉姆开悟后变成阿伯拉罕。
Donna Gordon：The letter Hay in Hebrew sounds like theexhalation of air.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：在希伯来语中，"H"听起来就像是呼了一口气。）
We use the breath to pronounce this letter.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：要发出这个音需要呼吸。）
Students, what gives life to all of us?
（广州-李菱Li Ling：同学们，是谁给予我们生命？）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：犹太人的名字里，带H表示尊贵吗？
Donna Gordon：Fu Feng the letter Hay or H in Hebrew isprevalent in the way that God's name is spelled in Hebrew.（扶风，在希伯来语里，Hay或者H被普遍用在神的名字里面。）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：第一章里讲到，上帝吹了一口气。
Donna Gordon：Yes, the breath is what brings life to theworld and its creatures.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：是的，呼吸让这个世界和这个世界上的生物有了生命。）
It is what helps to animate us.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：是这口气让我们灵动起来。）
It is a sign of the most powerful force in the universe.
（广州-李菱Li Ling："H"是宇宙中最强大力量的一个象征。）
By changing Abram's name to AbraHam, it is a sign thatAbram is marked by God for a special purpose and to win his favor.
（广州-李菱Li Ling：把Abram的名字改成"AbraHam",是上帝给他留下的标记，表明他是得到上帝恩宠的人。）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：呼吸？很好奇希伯来习俗里是否亦有如道家般的有关调息类的修行方式
（广州-李菱Li Ling：whether there is similar breathing exercise like Daosim in Hebrew?）
Donna Gordon：No there are not.（没有。）
扶风 Fu Feng 2号：道家讲：顺成人，逆成仙。通过对呼吸的调整，完成人神的转换，希伯来的世界里，也有相关的记载吗？
顺成人，逆成仙。就是顺着我们的呼吸成人，成人就是消耗的。逆成仙，逆过来就不消耗，从逆的过程中返回，成为一个先天的婴儿状态。这个就是通过修炼，通过对呼吸的调整，倒转人的不断流失和发散。从而保持我们生命的本真回到原初的婴儿的状态，就是逆成仙。
（广州-李菱Li Ling：if you follow your breath as a human being,you consume your energythen you are just a human being; but if you adjust your breath and try preserveyour energy you will arrive at a state like the baby, the state of purity. Thatis the purpose of breathing exercise in Daoism. ）
